A Global Walk for Healing
A part of the Veriditas Global Walk for Healing taking place though out the world this year will be hosted on Saturday May 22 from 10 until 1 by St. Luke's Episcopal Church. 1504 Myrtle St. in Calistoga.
Deacon Peggy Thompson, a Veriditas trained facilitator, will be leading the walks which will include instructions in the use of three different types of labyrinths. Along with two full sized labyrinths to walk there will be finger labyrinths available for those who find it difficult to walk, or for those who simply wish for an opportunity to try out these small personal hand tools for prayer.
Deacon Thompson stressed that Global Healing can include many things. " Labyrinth walking can be an offering of prayer for restoring to wholeness to what ever is broken in our lives, our nation, and the world. It can range everywhere from praying for world peace, to prayers for our local and national leaders, to the personal prayers for the mending of broken relationships, healing of illness, emotional distress, or anxiety."
Among the activities offered for the day will be instructions on how to do the Appleton Labyrinth dance, an English style folk dance in which two people dance the labyrinth together, weaving in and out of other dancers.
There is no charge for the day but donations of canned food for those hungry in Calistoga would be appreciated. Anyone who would like to spend a few peaceful hours learning about labyrinths as spiritual tools are invited to attend. For information phone 707 987 9343
St Luke's
"In a world that values “big” there is an assumption that bigger is always better and that the small-membership church is somehow less because of its size. But for centuries, the small church has been the norm. In fact, the work of spreading the Christian faith during the early church was accomplished through churches that rarely had more than 30 members."

O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
